Optimizing Cardiovascular Risk Reduction in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: Study Design and Rationale of the FIELD Study

Course Objectives:
This CME-certified monograph is intended for physicians who treat diabetic patients who exhibit dyslipidemia, including cardiologists, primary care physicians (internists, general/family practice), and endocrinologists.

  • Identify cardiovascular risk factors and their clinical consequences in patients with diabetes.
  • Identify appropriate pharmacologic treatment options for treating lipid disorders (dyslipidemia) in patients with diabetes.
  • Discuss the clinical benefits of reducing cardiovascular risk factors in patients with diabetes.
  • Differentiate the therapeutic effects of statin and fibrate therapy in treating lipid disorders.
