Professional Biography
Dr. Richard K. Scher is a professor of Clinical Dermatology at Columbia University in New York and an attending physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He received his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and master’s degrees from Brooklyn College Graduate School and New York University Post-Graduate Medical School and Hospital. After a stint in the Department of Physiology at Rockefeller University, Dr. Scher completed an internship at Maimonides Hospital of Brooklyn SUNY Downstate and a residency at New York University Medical Center.

A past president of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Scher is on the board of trustees for the Dermatology Foundation and the board of directors of the Women’s Dermatologic Society. A diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Scher is an active member of a number of local, national and international dermatology societies. Dr. Scher serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals including The American Journal of Dermatopathology, and Cutis. He was also editor in chief of Dialogues in Dermatology. A prolific writer, Dr. Scher has authored over 200 articles.
